Hotel occupancy rate up by 5 pct year on year

The average occupancy rate of Macau’s hotels reached 87.9 percent in November 2013, with four-star hotels leading at 90.8 percent. A total of 881,202 guests checked into local hotels and guesthouses in November, up by 5 percent year on year. The figures released by the Statistics and Census Service indicate there were 98 hotels and guesthouses operating at the end of November 2013, providing 27,773 guest rooms, up by 6.6 percent year-on-year; 5-star hotels had 18,377 rooms, accounting for 66.2 percent of the total, according to the DSEC. In the first eleven months of last year, visitor-guests accounted for 70.1 percent of the total number of overnight visitors, higher than the 65.2 percent in the same period of 2012, the DSEC said.
