A review of mainland policy on public holidays, announced by the State Council, may turn out to be to be good for the tourism and gaming businesses in Macau, Union Gaming Research Macau says.

A report by the research house says the announcement is a sign that the mainland will give employees the right to paid annual leave at various times of the year instead of expecting them all to take public holidays at the same time.

“The introduction of paid annual leave will be beneficial to Macau’s visitation, as it would likely serve to smooth visitation patterns and take pressure off major holiday periods known as golden weeks,” the report says.
