Hidden-fee’ package tours banned from next month

The mainland will ban “zero-fee” package tours from October 1, Macau’s public broadcaster TDM reported.

Travel agents will be prohibited from arranging the tours that take tourists to shopping centres and force them to shop there or that add other compulsory activities to recoup costs.

Macau Brand Enterprise Chamber of Commerce president Choi Kai Weng said the ban means tourists “of higher quality” would visit the city.
