H1 fiscal surplus MOP25.2 bln despite gaming slump

The government’s budget surplus in the first half of this year was MOP25.2 billion (about US$3.15 billion), official data indicate, even though the  slump in gaming has curbed tax revenue.

The budget envisages a surplus of MOP18.8 billion for the whole year.

First-half fiscal revenue was MOP55.1 billion, of which direct taxes on gaming made up MOP45.7 billion.

Government spending was MOP29.9 billion in the first half, 34.4 of the amount the budget envisages for the whole year.
