The government collected MOP45.7 billion (about US$5.71 billion) in direct taxes on gaming in the first half of this year, 39.4 per cent less than a year earlier, Business Daily reports.

The newspaper, citing official figures, says direct taxes on gaming made up over four-fifths of government revenue in the first half.

First-half government revenue was MOP55.1 billion, 33.9 per cent less than a year earlier.

The contractions occurred as the gaming industry’s revenue slumped.
