Govt to spend MOP23 mln on Lunar New Year parades

The Macau Government Tourist Office intends is to spend some MOP23 million (US$2.88 million) on parades to celebrate the Lunar New Year this year.

The director of the office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, has said the parades will be on the third and 10th days of the holidays.

Ms Senna Fernandes said the government would spend MOP5 million more on the parades than last year because this year’s would be bigger and famous artists from Hong Kong had been invited to take part.

She expects the number of spectators to be 10 per cent to 15 per cent greater than last year’s 68,000.
