Govt to quantify tourism’s contribution to GDP

The city’s Statistics and Census Bureau will release a new statistic that defines the tourism sector’s contribution to gross domestic product.

The bureau is planning to release the data for 2010 in the fourth quarter.

Bureau director Kong Pek Fong said yesterday the department began studying how to assess the value of the city’s tourism sector to the economy two or three years ago, the Macau Post Daily reports.
