Govt to keep selling monthly car parking passes

The government will keep selling for the time being monthly passes for car parks it owns, but will not actively promote them, Secretary of Transport and Public Works Raimundo Arrais do Rosário has said.

Mr Rosário told the Legislative Assembly that the government would keep selling monthly passes for at least six months, pending a review of how it exploits its car parks.

He was speaking in response to calls for monthly passes to be abolished because they make the cost of using government-owned car parks much cheaper than using privately owned car parks, meaning the government is failing to exploit its resources efficiently.
