Govt surplus hits MOP22.44 bln in just two months

The Financial Services Bureau says the government surplus was MOP22.44 billion (US$2.8 billion) in the first two months of the year, 14.8 percent more than a year earlier.

This is over one-third of the surplus it expects for this year.

Revenue from direct taxes on gaming amounted to MOP22.3 billion, 12.6 percent more than a year earlier.

Government expenditure was MOP4.5 billion, 23.4 percent more than a year earlier.

But the government’s capital expenditure budget is untouched so far.
