Govt proposes licensing of property managers

The government is proposing to license property management companies and require them to have minimum amounts of capital.

The deputy director of the Housing Bureau, Ieong Kam Wa, has said the government’s latest version of legislation intended to regulate property management is meant to improve the industry by setting standards.

A manager of residential property would be required to have capital in proportion to the number of homes it manages.

Mr Ieong thinks a bill on the regulation of the industry may be sent to the Legislative Assembly in the second half of next year.
