The government has budgeted MOP37 million (about US$4.6 million) to keep the income supplement going for another year, Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng has said.

Mr Leong told reporters that the criteria for eligibility for the supplement would be the same this year as last.  Any permanent resident of Macau over the age of 39 is eligible for a supplement of MOP5,000 if his or her income is under MOP15,000 per quarter.

The government spent MOP27.89 million on the income supplement last year.
