Govt aiming to change budget law by 2017

The government intends to put the amended law on budget-making into force in time for the fiscal year 2017, Financial Services Bureau deputy director Daisy Ho In Mui has said.

The amendments will oblige the government to tell the Legislative Assembly how much money it means to spend on any big project and how many years it means to take to spend it.

“The government has to explain how it is spending the money to see if the assembly agrees to it,” Ms Ho said.
