Gaming soon to need 55,000 more workers, bank says

Barclays Bank predicts that casinos in Macau will have to begin next year taking on 55,500 more employees, up to 17,000 of them croupiers.

The bank says the gaming industry will need extra employees to staff its new casinos in Cotai.

“If we assume each major Cotai casino due to open in 2015 to 2017 receives 400 tables, that third-party casinos also receive 400 tables in total, and that each table needs five to six dealers to operate, this would imply a total of 14,000 to 17,000 new Macanese [sic] dealers needed for the new openings,” a Barclays report says.
