Gaming, hotel industry workforces shrink in Q1

The gaming industry workforce decreased to roughly 84,600 at the end of the first quarter from about 85,300 three months earlier, the Statistics and Census Service says.

The service’s data show that the hotels and similar businesses workforce decreased by 1,800 to 26,100.

In contrast, Macau’s labour force grew to 406,300 from 403,600.

The health and social welfare workforce increased by 2,200 to 11,900.

The unemployment rate remained 1.7 per cent.
