Extended border hours ‘unlikely’ to uptick visitors

Union Gaming Research Macau says its is unlikely that increased operating hours of the Gongbei border on national holidays would alone result in an uptick in the number of visitors.

Even so, analyst Grant Govertsen wrote in a note that the measure should alleviate some congestion and allow visitors to spend more time in market.

Mainland China’s customs service might extend the opening of the borders on national holidays by two hours, Gongbei customs post supervisor Lao Ngai Leong said.

Under the proposal the Gongbei Border would open from 6 am to 1 am on holidays.
