The combined value of deposits held by Macau’s banks grew to MOP867.5 billion (about US$108.44 billion) in September, 2.2 per cent more than the month before, the Monetary Authority of Macau says.

The authority’s data indicate that the combined value of domestic loans made by the banks grew slightly but that the combined value of their external loans shrank a bit.

The value of loans by banks was the equivalent of 89.8 per cent of the value of deposits they held at the end of September, 2.3 percentage points less than a month earlier.

The broader M2 measure of money supply increased by 0.8 per cent to MOP482.3 billion.
