Curb subsidised housing stock, builders tell govt

The Macau General Association of Real Estate has advised the government against having too much subsidised housing built, Jornal Tribuna de Macau reports.

The Portuguese-language newspaper quotes representatives of the contractors association as telling Secretary of Transport and Public Works Raimundo Arrais do Rosário that too much subsidised housing will cause resentment among prospective homeowners that are restricted to the private housing market.

The association advises the government to give money direct to prospective homeowners so they can afford to pay the high prices of homes in the private market.
