Credit cards on issue increase 1.8 percent in Q1

The number of personal credit cards on issue in Macau was 767,939 at the end of March, 1.8 percent more than three months earlier, official data show.

The Monetary Authority of Macau says the combined credit limit on the cards was MOP14.6 billion (US$1.83 billion), 4.8 percent more.

The authority says the amount owed on credit cards was MOP1.7 billion, and the proportion of the amount owed that was over three months overdue was 0.74 percent.

Of the cards on issue, 543,715 were billed in patacas, 80,300 were billed in Hong Kong dollars and 143,924 were billed in renminbi.
