Credit cards in circulation up 3.7 pct in Q2

Macau saw the total number of personal credit cards in circulation up 3.7 percent over the previous quarter to 693,485 at the end of June this year, according to the latest figures released by the Monetary Authority. Of the credit cards, the number of Pataca cards, Hong Kong Dollar cards and RMB cards were 498,078, 74,153 and 121,254 respectively in the period, increasing by 2.9 percent, 2.3 percent and 7.7 percent quarter-on-quarter, the figures indicated. As of the end of June this year, credit limit granted by banks in Macau amounted to MOP12.3 billion (1.54 billion U. S. dollars), up 7.9 percent from the end of March 2013. The delinquency ratio, which is the ratio of  amount overdue for more than three months, edged down slightly to 0.64 percent in the period. Meanwhile, the credit card turnover increased 2.6 percent quarter-on-quarter to MOP3.3 billion (413.16 million U.S. dollars) in the period, according to the Monetary Authority.
