The annual rate of consumer price inflation was 4.91 per cent last month, little changed from May’s rate of 4.93 per cent, official figures show.

The Statistics and Census Bureau blames the inflation mainly on higher rents for homes and for parking spaces, and on the higher cost of eating out.

The annual rate of housing and fuel cost inflation was 9.17 per cent last month.

The annual rate of inflation in the cost of eating out was 6 per cent.

There was annual deflation of 2.94 per cent in the prices of alcoholic drinks and tobacco products.
