Commercial property loans rise 59.5 pct in August

The value of new commercial property mortgages reached MOP4.1 billion (US$513.4 million) in August, 59.5 percent more than in July, the Monetary Authority of Macau says.

New loans to Macau residents increased by 64 percent between July and August and loans to non-residents decreased by 37.5 percent.

New mortgage lending was 133.1 percent higher than a year earlier.

Residents took out 98.2 percent of the loans.
