Casinos set for second best month on record

August is likely to be the casinos’ second biggest month with analysts forecasting gross gaming revenue between MOP30.5 billion (US$3.8 billion) and MOP30.9 billion.

Sterne Agee says revenue will come in at MOP30.9 billion, an 18-percent increase compared to last August.

That would make August the second biggest month for the Macau casino industry, just below the MOP31.3-billion record set in March.

The United States-based brokerage firm is basing its forecast on revenue trends up to Sunday.

The firm adjusted downwards its percentage growth forecast to between 17 percent and 19 percent, from 17 percent to 20 percent.

Citi forecast yesterday that gross gaming revenue should reach MOP30.5 billion.
