Legislative Assembly members in the business sector are opposed to a legally enforced ban on migrant workers being employed as croupiers, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

In debate yesterday, they said the ban should remain a matter of policy to allow the government greater flexibility.

The Macau Federation of Trade Unions and pro-democracy assembly members support a legally enforced ban, saying it would protect middle-aged workers.

The Human Resources Office already rejects work permit applications from migrant croupiers as a matter of policy.
