BUILDING CONVERSION EFFORTS PRODUCE FEW RESULTS

The government has approved only two of the 14 sets of plans it has received since April 2011 to turn industrial buildings into housing.

The Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau said so in reply to an enquiry by a member of the Legislative Assembly.

The government has been trying for over three years to encourage the conversion of industrial buildings into private housing, in an effort to increase the supply of small and medium flats.

But redevelopers have shown little interest.
