Bank deposits rise 3.9 pct in July to MOP605.9 bln

Deposits at the city’s banks reached MOP605.9 billion (US$75.84 billion) in July, 3.9 percent more than in June, the Monetary Authority of Macau says.

The authority says deposits by residents grew by 2.9 percent to MOP399.4 billion, overseas deposits grew by 6.7 percent to MOP150.6 billion and public-sector deposits grew by 4 percent to MOP55.9 billion.

Domestic lending by the banks increased by 3 percent in the same period to MOP233.2 billion.

Loans as a proportion of deposits fell by 0.4 percentage point to 81 percent.
