Aviation business boosts airport revenue by 20 pct

Macau International Airport Co Ltd’s revenue from its aviation business grew faster than its revenue from its other businesses last year as the number of passengers and flights the airport handled increased, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

The newspaper, citing the company’s annual results, says the airport operator had revenue of MOP920 million (US$115 million), 20 percent more than the year before.

Revenue from its aviation business grew by 24.5 percent to MOP428 million (US$54 million). Revenue from its other businesses grew by 16 percent to MOP495 million (US$61 million).

The airport handled nearly 5.03 million passengers last year, 12 percent more than the year before and the most ever. It handled 48,950 aircraft movements and 26,465 tonnes of cargo.
