Average hotel room rate climbs 11.9 pct in Q1

The average room rate in Macau’s three-star, four-star and five-star hotels rose to MOP1,528.30 (US$191.39) last month, 13.2 percent more than a year earlier, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

The newspaper, citing Macau Hotel Association figures, says the average hotel room rate rose to MOP1,638.50 in the first quarter of this year, 11.9 percent more than a year earlier.

The first-quarter hotel occupancy rate rose to 90.9 percent from 85.6 percent.

Government data show Macau had 99 hotels and guesthouses containing 27,900 rooms at the end of February, about 200 fewer rooms than a year earlier.
