August visitors decrease 1.7 pct to 3.03 mln

Macau had just over 3.03 million visitors last month, 1.7 per cent fewer than a year earlier, official data indicate.

The Statistics and Census Service says nearly 1.61 million were day-trippers, 3.5 per cent fewer than a year earlier.

The number of mainland Chinese visiting decreased by 1.7 per cent to just under 2.1 million.

The number of visitors from Hong Kong increased by 0.8 per cent to 640,583 and the number from Taiwan increased by 3.5 per cent to 91,378.
