AUGUST AIRPORT PASSENGER THROUGHPUT BREAKS RECORD

Macau International Airport handled 520,000 passengers last month, 6.5 percent more than a year earlier and the most in any month yet.

Macau International Airport Co Ltd says the airport handled 3,400 landings and takeoffs, 1.4 percent more.

The airport operator says Air Macau will begin on Saturday direct flights between Macau and the northern mainland city of Tianjin, and that in the middle of the month another airline will begin flights between Macau and Phnom Penh.
