The Legislative Assembly committee considering the bill mandating a minimum wage for cleaning and security staff will be ready to present the legislation for its final reading by the end of May, committee chairman Cheang Chi Keong has said.

Assembly president Ho Iat Seng, for his part, has said he thinks the bill can be passed by the end of June so that it can be enacted and put into effect at the beginning of next year.

The bill would set the minimum wage for cleaning and security staff at MOP30 (about US$3.75) per hour or MOP240 per day.
