Assembly gives 2016 budget its first reading

The Legislative Assembly has given next year’s budget bill its first reading, all 31 members present voting in favour.

The government expects revenue of MOP103.25 billion (about US$12.91 billion), 13.9 per cent less than this year, and plans to spend MOP85.04 billion, 1.5 per cent more.

But the government intends to reduce its capital spending by 24.6 per cent to MOP11.07 billion.
