Another rise in gambling revenue

Figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau show that the accumulated gross revenue of gambling in the first three quarters of this year has reached MOP 260.6 billion. This indicates a 16.7 percent increase compared to MOP 223.3 billion in the same period last year. The monthly gross revenue in September is more than MOP28.9 billion, which is 5.1 billion patacas or 21.4 percent more than that in September 2012. But it is MOP1.7 billion less compared to August this year. Gross revenue in the third quarter amounted to MOP89.1 billion, a relatively small rise of 3.5 percent from 2Q13’s MOP86.1 billion.
There were 5,748 gambling tables in total in 3Q13, only two tables more than the previous quarter. The number of slot machines has dropped to 14,775 from last quarter’s 15,310. This is the second consecutive quarter that this number has dropped.
Out of all the games, baccarat in VIP rooms has generated most of the revenue these three quarters that has reached over MOP173 billion. It is followed by baccarat and slot machines.
