Annual inflation rises to 5.3 pct in February

The annual rate of consumer price inflation accelerated to 5.3 per cent last month from 4.85 per cent the month before, official data show.

The Statistics and Census service says the Lunar New Year holidays increased the cost of meals in restaurants and package tours, although the rate of increase in housing rents slowed for the fifth month in a row.

The annual rate of housing and fuel cost inflation was 10.7 per cent.

Recreational and cultural services price inflation was 9.49 per cent and food and non-alcoholic drink price inflation was 4.82 per cent.
