Annual consumer price inflation 5.99 pct in June

The annual rate of consumer price inflation was 5.99 percent last month, official data indicate.

The Statistics and Census Service attributes the inflation mainly to increases in housing rents and the cost of restaurant meals.

The annual rate of housing and fuel price inflation was 11.77 percent, food and non-alcoholic drink price inflation was 6.03 percent and recreation and culture price inflation was 5.48 percent because of higher rents, the higher cost of eating out, more expensive recreational and sporting services and pricier package tours.

The average annual rate of consumer price inflation in the 12 months ended June was 5.95 percent.
