Airport posts first profit ever

The Macau International Airport Company Ltd – CAM generated a net annual profit of MOP66.89 million (US$8.36 million) last year, it was announced on Friday at the company’s annual general assembly and board meeting.

This is the first profit in the company’s history, since airport operations started in 1995.

Its revenues grew by 17 percent last year to MOP769 million.

The company forecasts that revenue will rise to MOP798 million this year and that the number of passengers the airport handles will increase to 4.7 million.

CAM was able to achieve a net profit following a capital increase backed by the government and Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau SA, which took place last year.

That allowed the company to fully repay the bank loans deriving from the financing needs for airport infrastructure development back in the early stages of its construction.
