Airport operator nearly triples net profit

Macau International Airport Co Ltd (CAM) says its annual net profit increased by 184 percent last year to MOP190 million (US$23.75 million).

Revenue rose by 20 percent to MOP920 million. The revenue from aviation operations was MOP425 million.

Last year was the company’s second profitable year since its establishment in 1989.

The firm first recorded a profit in 2012 after its shareholders put another MOP1.95 billion into the company to settle its debts.

The combined revenue of CAM and its concessionaires at the airport rose by 14.2 percent last year to about MOP4.1 billion.

The 48,000 takeoffs and landings last year represented a 16 percent rise.
