Macau Polytechnic Institute associate professor of gambling studies Samuel Huang thinks it unlikely that Macau will be able to make its economy more diverse, Business Daily reports.

“We can never expect Macau to have a really diversified economy. Macau is too small. It’s a city with only half a million population,” Mr Huang told the newspaper in an interview.

“The gaming industry has been the pillar industry and will continue to be the pillar industry. It’s unavoidable.”
