Companies plan average 2.7 pct salary increase in 2025: survey
- 2025-01-13
A survey conducted by MSS Recruitment indicates that the average salary increment planned by local companies for this year stands at 2.72 per cent, 0.26 percentage points lower than in 2024, reflecting “a slightly cautious outlook towards the economy for 2025.”
The 2025 MSS & Hello Jobs Macau Salary Increment and Annual Bonus Survey Report also shows that 83.87 per cent of the surveyed organisations plan to give raises, a decrease from 89.33 per cent last year.
Meanwhile, regarding overall annual bonus payouts, 90.32 per cent of the surveyed organisations intend to grant bonuses for FY2024 performance, an increase from 88 per cent last year.
A total of 93 companies participated in the survey, a record high figure, according to MSS, one of the city’s main recruitment agencies.
Jiji Tu, Executive Director of MSS Recruitment and hello jobs.com, noted that “the planned annual bonus by organisations for full-year 2024 is also slightly lower than the planned annual bonus for full-year 2023, as per the survey conducted a year ago.” This indicates “that the actual performance of many organisations in 2024 was slightly below expectations,” she added, as quoted in an MSS press release announcing the survey results.
All six gaming concessionaires will be granting a discretionary bonus equivalent to one month’s gross salary to their employees throughout January.
The announcements were made in late December by the ‘Big Six’—SJM, Galaxy, MGM, Wynn, Melco, and Sands China—in recognition of their team members’ efforts during 2024. Sands also announced a pay rise ranging between 0.5 per cent and 5 per cent, depending on pre-tax monthly wage levels, taking effect on 1 March 2025.
