Fewer premium passengers trims Air Macau profit

More package tourists and fewer “high-end passengers” have hurt Air Macau Co Ltd’s business, chairman Zheng Yan says.

Our sister publication Business Daily reports that Mr Zheng told reporters the growth in the number of

big-spending independent travellers had slowed in the first half of this year.

He said the trend was linked to the mainland’s economic slowdown but gave no further details.

Air Macau’s first-half profit fell by 15.2 percent to RMB82 million (US$13.4 million), although revenue grew by 6.8 percent to RMB1.25 billion.
