Small and medium enterprises want to set up a retail centre for Macau brands in Guangzhou’s Nansha New Area, after struggling to gain a toehold on Hengqin Island.
Our sister publication Business Daily reports that a delegation led by Macau SME Association administrator Kenneth Lei Chi Leong discussed the idea of creating a trade street with Nansha’s Bureau of Economy and Trade last month.
The state-run China News Service reported that the new area development spanning 570 square km was approved last week.
Mr Lei said there had been slow progress in making Hengqin a place for Macau enterprises to do business. Investors need a minimum registered capital of RMB100 million (MOP130 million) to invest there.
