Only 270 estate licences granted

The Housing Bureau announced it only granted licences to 270 estate agencies and sales agents from April 3 to last Wednesday.

The bureau said in a statement yesterday it has so far received some 1,800 applications.

Currently, there are more than 16,000 real estate agents and 5,200 agencies eligible for the three-year licences, the bureau estimated last month.

Starting from July 1, all agents and agencies here must have a licence to work in the sector.

The application period will close by the end of June.
