High demand for croupier courses

All 180 places in the latest vocational training course for croupiers arranged by the Macau Gaming Industry Workers Association were filled only 10 minutes after the association began taking applications.

The vice-present of the association Leong Sun Iok was quoted by our sister publication Business Dailyas saying that over 95 percent of the course students were females aged 35 or above, with low monthly incomes and education qualifications.

He said they want to work as dealers to have higher salaries and improve their livelihoods.

Mr Leong said many of the course applicants were earning less than MOP8,000 (US$1,000) per month in their present jobs.

The course is set to begin in July.
