Workshop explores strategies for SMEs in Macau’s competitive talent market

MSS HR Club kicked off its activity recently by announcing an event for corporate HR employers to help them better understand and navigate the complicated human resources landscape in today’s Macau.

Experts predict that in the period 2014-2016, demand for staff will increase as much as 76 percent over previous years, with as many as 39,000 new positions created that need to be filled. Among the challenges facing employers in the near future, they see intensifying competition for talent, identifying new sources of talent and finding strategies to enhance staff retention and improving manpower efficiency in the workplace.

At its workshop, “HR Strategies for SME in addressing scarcity and competitiveness in Macau’s talent market ” at the Grand Lapa Macau on 8 April, MSS HR Club presented solid solutions to these and other issues being raised by Macau’s rapid growth.

Eminent guest speakers included Wong Hui Ling, a 19-year human resources veteran who has brought solutions for success to a diverse range of businesses. Key discussion topics at the HR skill-enhancing workshop highlighted human resources best practice in talent management, realities in Macau and strategies for improvement, strategies to attract, integrate, engage and retain talent, and roles and competencies needed in the HR organization.

The workshop attracted human resources department heads, including HR managers from local corporations. Through dynamic presentations and group discussion, participants and attendees greatly enriched their understanding of the local talent market.
