Package tours up by 22 percent

Visitor arrivals on package tours increased by 21.6 percent year-on-year to 804,000 in February, official data shows.

This was attributable to the long holiday period of the Lunar New Year, the Statistics and Census Service said.

Package tour visitors mainly came from the mainland (600,000), followed by those from Taiwan (63,000), South Korea (38,000) and Hong Kong (36,000).

In the first two months of 2013, visitors on package tours reached around 1.6 million, up by 19.7 percent year-on-year.
