Contraction of Macau’s economy eases a bit in Q3

Macau’s economy was 24.2 per cent smaller in the third quarter of this year than a year earlier, the Statistics and Census Service says.

The service’s data indicate than the annual rate of contraction in gross domestic product slowed from 26.4 per cent in the second quarter.

The value of exports of gaming services, the mainstay of the economy, was 37.4 per cent lower in the third quarter than a year earlier.

Exports of other tourism services contracted by 15.3 per cent.
