Annual inflation slows to 4.16 pct in October

The annual rate of consumer price inflation slowed to 4.16 per cent last month, official data indicate.

The Statistics and Census Service attributes the inflation mainly to higher rents for housing and the greater cost of eating out.

The annual rate of housing and fuel price inflation was 5.13 per cent.

In contrast, clothing and shoe prices deflated at an annual rate of 1.89 per cent and communication prices deflated at an annual rate of 0.16 per cent.
