October visitors decrease 0.6 pct to 2.64 mln

Macau had about 2.64 million visitors last month, 0.6 per cent fewer than a year earlier, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service says the number of visitors staying overnight rose by 3.3 per cent to about 1.22 million and that the number of day trippers fell by 3.8 per cent to about 1.41 million.

Some 1.82 million of last month’s visitors were mainlanders, 0.6 per cent fewer than a year earlier.

The number of visitors from Hong Kong fell by 0.7 per cent to 504,981 but the number from Taiwan rose by 5.6 per cent to 83,462.
