Chief executive optimistic about govt finances

Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On has expressed cautious optimism about his government’s finances as the slump in gaming persists.

“We have followed our principle of cautiously managing our finances,” Mr Chui told the Legislative Assembly.

He forecast that the fiscal surplus would be MOP25 billion (about US$3.13) this year.

“Our revenues and fiscal surplus have been reaching our targets,” he said.
