New mortgage lending for homes drops in September

The value of new mortgages for housing granted by Macau banks fell to roughly MOP3.6 billion (about US$450 million) in September, 35.3 per cent less than the month before, the Monetary Authority of Macau says.

The authority’s data indicate that some MOP1.02 billion was secured against housing bought off the plan, 12.1 per cent less than the month before.

Roughly MOP3.5 billion was lent to Macau people, 2.6 per cent less.

MOP118 million was lent to outsiders, 94.1 per cent less.
