Hotels think 80-90 pct holiday occupancy possible

The Macau Hoteliers and Innkeepers Association thinks Macau’s more expensive hotels can achieve an occupancy rate somewhere around 85 per cent during the mainland’s National Day golden week of holidays beginning on Thursday, Business Daily reports.

“We believe that the city’s three-to-five-star hotels can see an occupancy rate of 80 to 90 per cent for October 1 to 6, when the average room rate offered for the period has gone down by an annual 10 per cent,” The newspaper quotes association president Chan Chi Kit as saying.

Mr Chan said the number of reservations of hotel rooms had increased this month.
